Howdy all,

I've often looked longingly at the Case/Bose knives, but have had a hard time justifying the price tag for a 'midtech'. I started to weaken on getting a Lanny's Clip, and then the Wilfred came out.

I'm almost to the point of getting one. Does anyone have one, who can share a review/opinions? A detailed comparison between a Wilfred and LC would be MOST appreciated.

Finally, how does everyone feel about the value/cost of the Case/Bose knives in general?

Regards,

Jeremy

I don't have a Wilfred or a Lanny's Clip but I've owned four Norfolks and I have two Cattle Knives. All of them have been worth the cost in my opinion. Superb quality and if I didn't know better, I might think I was holding a full on custom knife in my hands. I'm a big fan.

I know there are sometimes some lemons that slip through the QC department but I've never gotten one of them.

The Case/Bose lineup are knives that you have to experience to really appreciate. Just keep in mind that Case has excellent customer service in the unlikely event that you need to use it.

Tony is semi retired so getting a knife directly from him is unlikely except on the secondary market. His son is making beautiful knives as well.

The cost of the collaboration knives is a lot less than the cost of a custom knife and both the collaboration knives and the customs are worth what they cost in my opinion. I have several of the collaboration knives and would own them all if I could. The Norfolk is my favorite but I have several patterns that I use.

The knives are built different than most other traditional knives. The parts are wire edm cut from a pattern that Tony provides to Case. Using wire edm allows Case to very closely replicate the parts. It is more expensive than punching out parts but it produces better results. Also, the knives have bushings, mill relieved liners, and all stainless construction. It's expensive to make knives this way. And no other knife company has done it.

The results clearly show it is worth it...

Wow, supratentorial, those Norfolks are spectacular!!! Wouldn't mind seeing case put those into regular production

Jake, they're all gorgeous. The stag lock back Whittler is just beyond words.

Rusty1 - Thanks for the link

Anyone had one for a while to comment? Any side by side pics with a Lanny's Clip?
