I own a ton of med and large fixed blades and tacticool folders. I've been thinking about getting into collecting Case knives, just for fun. I notice that there are lots of models such as whittlers, swaybacks, stockmans, etc.. Doesn anyone know of a link, reference, etc that explains the difference between the models and what their intended purpose is? I looked on the Case site but could not find such thing.

Thanks!
Mike

I would start off with a Case Trapper.. My first case was a trapper with stag handles, IMO it is a great knife... Have you checked out any gun shows in your area? They are great places to find Knife venders and I can guarantee you 9/10 they will have several Case Knives to choose from.. Good Luck with your quest Case Knifes are Classics IMO..

Hey Mike, come on over to the traditional pocket knives forum and hang out for a while.

On the traditional side much power is...it is the source of the force that binds all knives together...much there is to learn there...join us yes or join us no...there is no try.

Fear not the traditional side young Padawan...

ok...I think I have let my geek side out for long enough today!

The traditional forum is a great place to hand out and learn. There are so many Case options out there they BEG to be collected. I started out getting all the models in the Caribbean Blue handles, and then decided to go after the Seahorse Whittler in all of it's presentations... next are the Congress.... Then the Keylime Handles.... it will never end.

mike the 1st item is a good knife book.i suggest you go to a gun & knifeshow since someone there will have a bunch of knife books. case is a real complex co to start with since they have been in business over 100 yrs.case is the most collected knife in the world & you could spend a lifetime researching it.

You can find some good deals on old case knives on Ebay. I have purchased new and old knives from ebay.
