My wife brought home a small box of knives that were her great grandfathers for me to look at. It contained mostly what you would expect to see. An Imperial, a Cattaraugus, some no name advertising stuff with broken blades, and the last one I pulled out was this Case Brothers knife. I did some searching online but can't seem to locate much more than that tang stamp is somewhere between 1900-1912. I was hoping someone here could help out with any info at all on this thing. Thanks!

I saw a small and worn Little Valley Case in an antique store in NY State marked in the hundreds of dollars. Mind you, I might see it again there this year.

You have about as much info as I do on that knife, but I do know that is a rare find!

At first I leapt out of my chair, thinking it was a Harness Jack!!
On further chicken-eyeing I am 90% sure it is a very worn (and loved) pen blade we are looking at.
Maverick299 Maverick299 , you have a worn and wonderful example of a now rare Case!! I'd preserve it for posterity, and do nothing but oil the joint, and rub everything with a slightly oily cloth!
Beautiful!!

Maverick, Can you post a picture of the back of the small blade?

I'll try to remember to snap a pic when I get home. If memory serves me (which it often does not) there were no stampings or "Tested XX" on the back of the small blade and no rail (for lack of a better term) that would indicate it to be a awl or punch.

Thanks! I'm looking for the profile of the grind, not a stamp, although a stamp would be interesting.

Hopefully those pics help. My camera sucks, sorry. The appears to be a swedge, but only on one side. I tried to get a pic from the top showing how it was one sided, but it's not the best.

Charlie, I still think it's a harness jack. The long pull would be rare on a pen blade (wouldn't it?), and the grind looks wrong for a pen.
