Case buffalo

My old man has three of them. Nice feel, but large. It is wide when closed so definitely a sheath carry and you can most likely skin a buffalo with it. The blade has a nice workable belly for skinning. Would make a great hunting knife.

Generally known as a Clasp knife, rather large to carry as a regular EDC nice in the hand if you have fingers like a pound of pork sausages, I have one and like them, usually come in a wooden box. Used in excellent condition about $100. Wood handle variety that is!

Introduced by Case in 1969, discontinued in 1981. Smooth Pakkawood handles and chrome vanadium blade steel. When it was introduced, the retail price was $12.00. Each knife came wrapped in a Case wrapper, packed in a walnut display box.

It was Case's larges folder, at 5 1/2" closed length. The same pattern as the 5172 Bulldog, the Bulldog being a stag handled knife.

There was also a lockback version, the P172 L SSP "Boss" in stainless steel that came with a belt pouch instead of the wooden box. Made from 1980 to 1985.
