I normally don't post to too many websites but have been lurking here on BF for awhile. Always been a Knife nut since childhood and being in the Army for 18 years now I have run the gamut of tactical knives from Spyderco, Gerber, Benchmade, CRKT and others but after much thought about it there is very little that I absolutely needed a "Tactical" knife for on any of my 5 deployments that couldn't be handled with my current favorite EDC (a not sure how old) Case Canoe and these tasks include cutting loose hung cargo straps, nets, helicopter seats, ropes and even the dangerous task of opening MRE's as well as just plain whittling. I have a modest collection of knives and for the past 2 years have found myself continually reaching for my traditional knives even when deer hunting my go-to knife has been my simple little Old-Timer Sharpfinger the old carbon version not the stainless "new" version. I guess I am saying that maybe my Father and Grandfather were alot smarter than I am because they didn't have to waste the time with the latest and greatest wonder knife and used simple basic traditional carbon steel knives for everything like I was taught to by them and my Scoutmaster thirty some years ago. I am trying to pass this on to my son and convinced him this weekend that the old Imperial Barlow that i bought for $6 was a better knife for Scouting than the stainless steel $25 tactical knife he thought was so awesome. Sorry for rambling but I figured this was the place for it enjoy the pictures would love to see some user knives with honest to goodness patina like mine seem to have developed.
