I hope this is the right place to open this thread as the pattern is traditional although the handle material is not.

That said, I am thinking of purchasing the Case carbon Fiber Sodbuster Jr. I'm curious to hear some feedback from anyone who owns or has handled this knife as it will be an online purchase being that no stores in my area stock this item. Do you feel it would be a good EDC for basic cutting tasks? I have never had a carbon fiber knife but collect Sodbusters so am intrigued by this one.

I also have a silly question that is loosely related. Does anyone know of a carbon fiber Barlow? I think the combination of classic patterns with modern materials in interesting and would love to own one if they exist.

Thanks guys. I've learned so much reading the threads on Blade Forums.

Part of the appeal of carbon fiber is that its strength allows no liners. I assume the soddy is liner less? Pretty much have to have liners for multi blade like a Barlow, at which point carbon fiber becomes just a scale material.

The Case carbon would be a fine knife for everyday cutting task. It also has the benefit of being very thin, due to it being liner less, and very light since it's carbon fiber, it disappears in your pocket. If you are looking to get it because it's carbon fiber, then it's a nice knife and you will probably be happy with the knife. Absent the novelty of the carbon fiber though, I do feel that the price is steep. For the money you spend it could get nicer sodbuster with more appealing handles and better steel, or even two.

This^ but if you will EDC your Case CF, it is worth that high price.
