Case Carbon Steel in 1981?

I know Case uses its "CV" carbon steel in its current and recent carbon bladed knives. Was it always so? I ask because recently I acquired a nice 1981 full size trapper in black jigged bone with carbon blades, and I'm curious as to whether they have the same CV steel or something different.

I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks,

Andrew

My understanding is that Case carbon blades of that era were basically the same composition as today's CV, but heat treated to a softer HRc:
closer to 55, while today's are closer to 57.
