I have been seriously eyeballing this one, I like the idea of the guard to protect the fingers and some of the bone colors just look awesome.

Does anybody own one of these?
If so what do you think?
Does the guard tend to break easily?

Any pictures (especially opened and closed), comments and answers would be appreciated.

Also, if you truly love this knife I wouldn't mind if you try and completely sell me on it/ convince me to purchase it. It was payday today!

I have picked up a 2 of the modern ones over the last couple of years and have been very pleased with the F&F. The guard will handle the things one would use a locking slip joint for without any problems. The Cheetah is a little large for my taste in a pocket knife, so I think the cub would more pocket friendly.

I have purchase 12 over the last year. Every one has been perfect except they could be a little sharper. I do carry a Bone stag one ocationally. I like the size alot better than the large Cheetah but I do have a friend who has purchased about 20 of the bigger cheetahs in the last year. All but one of his has been perfect also.

The guard is stout and you would have to try pretty dawg-gone hard to break it.. And even then it'd be difficult. Great little lock-back slipjoint.

Go for it, you cannot go wrong with these. Here is the one of several that I purchased for my daughter some years back.. She rarly used hers so I started pocketing it myself.. ;) :D .. Still got more put up for safe keeping too.

I have a Queen Swing Guard 4 1/2" in Amber Bone in D2
A very well made knife with excellent F&F
Stout for hard work
A lovely looking knife

It is too large for me for pocket carry
I need to carry it on a belt pouch
I am not sure I like the swing guard itself
I have not used it much

Just looked at the Cubs, at 3 1/2" they look really nice

I have hanlded a few, but my taste for collecting has not migrated that way as of yet. I love almost all of the traditional patterns, but resist buying the Cheetah. If I ever come across a good deal on one, I will definitely spring on it. They seem to run high as compared to a similar pattern without the guard.

I've always wanted a Cheetah Cub but they do seem a bit pricey.

I think I may try out the $35 German Bull swing guard to see if the pattern suits me. It's 3.5" closed like the Cub.

I have 12 of the Case and 1 of the German Bulls, I gotta say the quality of the Case really outshines the German Bull, be patient and you can get a Cub for around $35.00. On my German Bull the guard was really messed up and splayed open, I will be send it back to Frost sometime in the future. Frost's customer service is actually pretty good.

Is this some kind of secret code to PayPal you $35? ;)

No secret codes just watched the Bay and picked up a Leopard Skin, Summers End and Bengal Stripe for between $35.00 - $40.00 shipped. They are there if you dont get in a hurry. Good luck.

I have looked at these also and was thinking of getting one. I don't collect, just use: how do they feel in the hand when cutting? Do you think the swing guard gets in the way or is a nice feature?

They are just about the perfect size for me, I like my users in the 31/4 to 31/2 size the best. To be honest I have never used mine for more than opening blister paks, letters, cutting rope and other small chores. As far as the guard it has never been a hinderance to anything I have used it for. Be prepared, if you pull this knife out everyone who sees it will want to check it out. It is a real conversation starter.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll be checking one out. A CV one would be awsome!
