Just picked up a Case Muskat today with carbon steel blades. I really like how Case is offering more knives with CV blades. The bone has some real nice color to it and looks like some good ole redbone.

Very appealing. The bone looks very good indeed.

The Muskrat is one of the few patterns I don't have, is it a slim knife? Are they all over 4"?
Could be a bit massive for my tastes.

willgoy, the Muskrat measures 3 7/8", its not massive at all to me. But I've been carrying a Great Eastern lately too.

It's sending me over the edge....

The GE Muskrat is a large one though:D

That is some good looking bone and very nice presentation (washboard). It gives the whole photo an ol' timey feel to it.

Does this model have one or two backsprings?

also

Is it possible to get a photo looking down on the knife (viewing blade spines in closed position) I am trying to figure out how fine the tips are on these. I know they were used as small game skinners but I am hoping the points are not very delicate as I would like to try to edc one for a while.

Thanks

Nice, how thin are they grinding the blades down to now?

The tips of a Muskrat blade is pretty delicate, they're fine for cutting tasks but they wouldn't take any abuse.

Dr. Pepper, It has two backsprings. As for using it for skinning, I don't know. A buddy at work used his mini-trapper which is about the same size, maybe a little smaller, to gut a deer. I would probably use something bigger for that task but it worked for him. The Muskrat makes a great EDC knife.

Thanks, I guess I will get one. I'll keep one blade super sharp and the other just so-so. That way I will not feel bad about using it. I have a tendency to oversharpen to the point that I avoid using a blade just because I don't want to bugger it up and lose that enchanting edge.
