Hey,

Anybody have any of the Case Classic knives? These seem to be some higher end built knives from Case ,featuring some nice patterns, great materials like some great bone and stag, and carbon blades. Are they as good as the hype I have read?

I've got a couple. A "55" pattern whittler and a stag Moose. Very nice knives featuring blades of 1095. That said, I think "most" of these knives back then were manufactured by Queen though I think some of the patterns were produced by Case.

I'm pretty sure the saddlehorn was made by Case, but like Elliott said the bulk of them were made for Jim Parker by Queen. Some nice knives but I got turned off by the various "prototypes" that were circulating. They do have some cool old patterns to collect.

I think Gus/Bastid knows a lot about them.

I am a huge fan. At one point I had around 700, but the prices they were bringing on ebay were too tempting.
About all that is left are sunfish, a complete set of 55's and some odd and end patterns.

I only have one Case Classic-a 63039 Sowbelly/ Banana Antique Redbone 3-blade knife. After finding out it was made by Queen Cutlery I bought a Queen Canoe with D2 steel blades and am very pleased with it. I like the older style knife patterns.
I recently won an eBay auction for a Queen Canoe SFO Strawberry Jigged Bone with 1095 carbon steel blades and am anxious to add it to my small collection.

I collected all the Sunfish by scale material but haven't be able to part with these guys. There's just something about them. I might have some more back in the dark places of the safe that I won't let myself see.

Bastid, that Greenbone 55 is one of the most elegant knives I've seen in a long time.
How could you part with that collection of 700!?

Just had to. Before I started modding here I used to sell at knife shows and Case Classics were what I specialized in. I pretty much did it for fun and the chance to meet folks.

When I stopped in 1996 I had to get rid of some. Since the sunfish and wharncliff whittler's were my favorite patterns, I decided to keep them and I sold the rest to existing customers and on da bay.
