I have collected traditional patterns in the past, but I`ve never been a "Case only" collector. I still have a handful of Case knives around the house and even carry one on occasion. Case patterns are fun to collect since there`s so much information on them out there. You can research Case knives endlessly!

I`ve always been partial to whittlers and Texas toothpicks, a.k.a. ticklers but that`s a sort of racist name for them!

Steve: I collect other brands also.Winchester,Queen,Schatt@Morgan,and various other.Seems like there is not too much interest in the"Traditional" stuff on these forums.
I like Toothpicks and own a couple but you cannot collect everything.
I love those split back whittlers also. But like I said........

In the Case knives i collect mostly Case Classics, mostly the larger patterns like the Clasps,Sunfish,Swinguards, the bigger whittlers along with the smaller Cheetahs in all years. You dont hear much talk about Case knives here on the forums but they are the most collected knives of all.

I also collect traditional knives. ( Case, Winchester, Queen, Schatt&Morgan, Remington, Hen & Roster, Puma, Henckel, Kissing Crane, etc) My latest aquisition is a Remington Damascus Bullet Knife.... Sweeeeet!

I'd love to see a forum here for the "Traditional Blades" ! Whadda ya say Mike Turber? How about giving a Traditional Knives Forum a try... at least on a temporary basis, just to see how it works out?

I have collected Case knives for years and love to collect the ones with the Damascus Blades. Parker had some made in 1989. And now Case is making soom for us to sell and collect again.

There is just so much history behind W. R. Case & Sons.

Gentlemen: Do you know if Case intends to make any with BG42 steel soon?

Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!

Yeah, let`s get a forum for traditional patterns and maybe we can get Bernard Levine to moderate it and....hey, wait a minute..!!! We already HAVE that here!

btw-There is a Case sponsored Case Forum now over at Knifeforums.com. Too bad they didn`t come here, but I suppose they could use the traffic at the other site!

Yes nifrand - that 6111 1/2L has company in the knife box some going back to a grandfather of mine... there are mostly two blade jacks and stockmen styles that I have - never got into the trappers too much and was really peed off when I lost my dad's copperhead about 40 years ago throutgh a hole in the pants pocket ! Boy, was Dad mad!
I do keep my eyes open for a case that's a good deal.

When only knuts have knives - Count me in !

Again, Nifrand, my friend .. you got that right - I still hope the guy who "appropriated" the one my dad gave my son cuts himself everytime he opens that blade.

I've never been a big fan of Case until they came out with the Copperlock. I love both the large and mini. It has a lot of belly to it and it sort of reminds me of a traditional AFCK. What would the Copperlock look like with a comboedge? Hmmmm!

I've been collecting older Case knives, along with original Remingtons and New York Knife Co's for about fifteen years. I don't care for the newer stuff too much, but the workmanship from the pre WWII days is great. I don't understand "Case classics" and repro Remingtons though. They're not made by either company (aren't they all made by Camillus?), and the fit and finish is just mediocre. For the same amount of cash, you can get "Case XX USA's" (1965-'69) that are three times the quality. The older knives in mint condition are a great investment. I think anyone interested in antique pocketknives should read "Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery" by Gerald Witcher. You'll learn what makes the old knives tick and avoid getting ripped off too. I'm seeing more and more "reworks" out there, so be careful and do your homework.

Read the book by Witcher.Very informative.
Where do you buy older cases from?I buy some off Ebay and a guy,[dealer] Dwight Long in Texas.
Those old Remingtons are kind of going out of sight.Looked at an old pre war Trapper.Mint The guy was asking $4000.00.Man was it beautiful.
