There's another thread going on Case knives (actually, there are probably several), but I didn't want to derail them. I have this Case Mini-Trapper.
On one of the blades, it says 6207. From what I've gathered, that's the model number and can be decoded. I haven't done that yet. This is on the clip point blade:
I've read the other posts and done some internet searches. What I see above doesn't quite match what I'm seeing, though. It's close to the 1980s or 1990-93 tang stamps, but not quite the same. I don't see one with the SS in the middle of the row of dots. So my guess is 1980s, maybe early 1990s. Can anyone tell me anything about this slightly-different tang stamp? Thanks in advance.

Beautiful Mini Trapper by the way. 🤠
I bet it's a very solid knife.
Thank you. I do like this knife. My dad isn't in a condition to ever need it again, and my mother said I could take it, so I snitched it out of his desk. I was ridiculously dull (which I found odd, because my dad was a surgeon), but that was an easy fix. It does feel well-made, solid, and opens and closes smoothly. No hint of grit in the action.

Updated above from Case Collectors site. I keep the image in my Photos app on my phone. Very handy to have with you when looking at Case knives for sale. ☺️

Hmmm . . . I have one with a tang stamp that is closest to 2000-2009, but it's missing the left side dot on the top row.

Your knife was made in 2001... one missing dot.
The year 2000 would have all ten Xs and Dots
The year 2009 would have all Xs and Dots removed.
John, I like the way you express the "date code" in terms of the number of missing Xs and Dots, instead of the number that are present on the tang!:thumbsup::thumbsup: That makes it easy to connect the year to the tang stamp: last digit of the year in the decade in question corresponds to the number of missing symbols. So for 2000-2009,
0 missing symbols = 2000
1 missing symbol = 2001
2 missing symbols = 2002
.
.
.
9 missing symbols = 2009
