Hi Folks,
Finally got my Case Med Stockman in CV. Honestly, I wasn't all that impressed at first blush. It was smaller than I expected and the snap on the blades is very light. Also, the sheepfoot blade has a bit of play in it.

However, the more I play with it today the better I like it. The blades sharpened SO easily compared to my D2 queen. I thought I wouldn't like the CV as much but I think I might be in love. I cut an apple and let the blade sit with the juice on it and it formed a nice little patina. I really like that look.

I plan on using it everyday for a while and see how I like it. I primarily bought it as a small edc and for wood carving. I will let you all know how I like it after a bit.

Best,
Brett

Good luck, Brett. You're gonna love it. I like that some of the knives don't have nail breaking springs. In real world cutting all you need is enough spring to keep the blade open till you cut. The dynamics of the cutting will keep the blade open.

The medium stockman is a nice compact design, and very pocket friendly. And CV does sharpen up so nice as well as easy. I've always preffered a knife that can be touched up in the field in a few minutes with a small pocket hone.

Thanks for the comments. I guess I have never really had a small knife that i used a lot.
I am definitely looking forward to using it and am willing to bet I fall in love with it.

Take care and thanks,
Brett

Brett,

You will find that little medium stockman will become more and more "attached" to you. There's another thread, started by jackknife about 3 1/4" knives, which is very close to the size of your medium stockman. You'll find it an interesting read! I know I'm quite attached to my Old Timer 34OT medium stockman. Medium stockmen are VERY handy EDC knives!

Nice choice. The large Cases are a little too large for my pocket. I wish they would make one the size of the Queen, kind of an in-between... But the medium is a nice size too, and easy on the pocket. Gotta love that CV steel!

I really love my 3 5/8" Case Stockman. I also had the larger one, but it was a bit big for my liking. It's funny because I love my 4 1/4" Trapper! I also got the 3 5/8" Texas Jack which is so sweet. All in CV of course, with the amber bone scales.
