I recently purchased a Case Sway Back Jack in Chestnut Bone with Chrome Vanadium blades. I love traditional folders, wharncliffe blades and sway back patterns. So this knife has it all for me. I am really impressed with the quality of this Case knife. The fit and finish is nearly flawless and the blades were razor sharp out of the box. The Chestnut Bone scales are beautiful and compliment the style of the knife well.
I am a hobbyist woodworker. So shortly after getting the knife I took it out to my woodshop. The knife performed well cutting through the end grain of both hard and softwoods as well as slicing through paper with the accuracy of scissors out of the box. The wharncliffe blade also performs well as a scribe for laying out joinery.
I only have 1 complaint with the knife. It is about 25% too small for my purposes. Despite its beauty, I think this pattern of knife is designed to serve as a workhorse. The 3 1/5 (1/5???) closed length is too small for me to really get a comfortable grip for heavy cutting. For fine work and opening mail and packaging though it is just fine.
I highly recommend this knife. It is very well made, looks great and is priced well for the quality.
