I would like to hear from those of you who are using CV blades that CASE made in the last ten years or so. How well do they hold an edge? I bought some awhile back and so far am not very happy with them.

I have two Case slipjoints with Cr-V blades, one bought about 10 years ago, the other about 7-8 years ago. The older one holds a pretty good edge, while the newer one is only middle of the road compared to my other carbon steel slipjoints (Eye Brand, Boker, Kissing Crane, Henckels).

I have had a yellow handled case CV trapper for about 6 months now, and am very pleased with its performance. I sharpen the clip blade with a little tooth on a Norton fine India stone, and really lowered the bevel on the spey blade, sharpend on a loaded strop to hair popping. At work one day I had to cut all the way around 9 4' X 4' heavy cardboard boxes. The blade got quite hot from the cutting, but it stayed sharp all the way to the last one, and came back to full sharp with just one pass on a 14" stone. I'd call that good performance! BTW it is a 2001 model.
