I have seen this. I've looked at it before but never really LOOKED at it. Man I like it alot. You see, I love stag. I love Damascus. And above all, I love stockmans:D So the way I see it is this...I need to get one one day. That will be a killer EDC. Take away pocket time from my 8OT. Just need to sell some other knives first lol But does anyone else have any opinions on this knife? I'm just curious what ya'll think of it.

I had one that I had ordered online and had to send it back to the vendor. It had several issues in fit and finish that made it impossible to keep (especially at the price).

I'd read of some issues on the forum previous to my taking a chance and bottom line was that I was underwhelmed. (Plus the knife is made with three backsprings instead of the traditional two.)

I was much happier subsequently putting the money toward a mint early 70's vintage "47" pattern Case stockman in red bone. Great knife.

(If memory serves, it was the only Case I'd ever sent back to a vendor. Not that others didn't have any issues...but none rose to this level.)

What's the model # of the one you're looking at? Also, make sure whoever you buy from has a good return policy.

I bought a large CV Stockman in 6.5 bonestag, thinking I'd move up to damascus a little later. There were several issues with the knife I got, and after talking with the seller, I kept it, since it was to be a user anyway. (They gave me a discount.) I won't buy a damascus bladed knife until I can really look one over.

thx - cpr

I've been carrying one everyday for almost two years now. I'll agree that I've seen better finished knives but mine is no where near bad enough to send back. It was a Christmas gift from my boys two years ago and goes everywhere with me. I've found that the ease of sharpening and edge retention is better than any other Case steel offered for my uses. A bonus is that when I use it and somebody asks me about it my oldest boy gets to brag how he is the one who got it for me. Some of the etching is starting to rub away on the tip of the main clip and sheepsfoot blades from use but this makes it look nice and worn in. Here is an old pic that I've posted before...

Edited to add mine is obviously the Amber Bone model. I've not handled the Stag version.

Wow I didn't know that it was a 3 spring model. I am definitely turned off on that part. Hmmm I never knew that there was an amber bone model with damascus. That is very nice. What do you guys think of the whittler split back model?

CASE run of the mill knives are very good both stainless&cv.
The Medium Stockman is an amazingly useful pattern.
CASE stag doesn't seem up to other manufacturer's levels and I suspect the combo with Damascus could be rather over-priced and disappointing. Better to save a bit more and get a custom?

I agree a custom would be great, just still those are always too far out of my range, something always comes up where I can't drop 3 bills. Especially for the kind of knife I'd want for a custom, I will have to do what Blues did, and see what I can do about finding a different very nice one and see what I can do about that.

i have a nice little coke bottle Case damascus from the Parker era. nice little knife.
but it ani't no stockman.
you might do well to try and snag an older but good one from a collector.

Corey,

Check your PM's. I just sent you some info you may find useful.

I got the amber bone damascus stockman from Case awhile back. Mine was excellent in FF etc. I gave it to my son and he carries and uses it everyday.

I bought a Case Sage Damascus Barlow this summer. It's a great knife!

The raindrop damascus pattern is very well done. The stag scales paired with the damascus steel is very appealing.

I love my raindrop damascus amber bone saddlehorn. Beautiful fit and finish with just the right snap. I don't think the stag is worth the upcharge though -- Case's stag is pretty lame.
