Hello, I just received a Case Doctor's Knife in the two blade variety with the spatula. I noticed tang stamping that I'd never seen for a Case. It has the year 1996 along with WR Case & Sons and Bradford, PA. Model 62085 is stamped on the opposite side under TESTED XX. I chose to buy this because the blade is slightly different than that which Case has re-released.
Everything about this knife is off. Neither of the blades is centered and it isn't off by just a little. The bone scales have noticeable gaps. The scales are not of even thickness of each side. I've also never seen the separator in between the springs extend all the way up between blades when it comes to a Case knife. I did a quick look and believe this was manufactured by Blue Grass Cutlery "under license from W.R. Case and Sons". I'm sure many know this history better than I. No offense to Blue Grass Cutlery but their work seems shoddy. I also just received a new single blade Case Doctor's Knife and the difference is night and day. Anybody else have this experience? Is Blue Grass Cutlery even legit or is that another way of saying it's a knockoff made in China?
