Okay, I was wondering about getting a nice wooden case made to hold a couple knives. I want something nice (it, and the knives in it will be a gift), but not excessive. Simple elegance is the key. The only out-of-the ordinary thing is that I want to have a piece of scrimshaw inlayed in the top (the maker of the case does not need to know how to do the scrimshaw, just how to inlay the completed scrimshaw into the top).

I wish I had the time to do this myself, but I don't so does anyone have any ideas who can do this, for a vaguely reasonable price?

--thanks,
JB

If you don't find anything in wood you like contact TomW, he makes excellent leather pouches which would be suitable for gift giving.

What exactly are you looking for? A 12" by 10" case with dovetailed joints, finger box joints, half lap butt joints, or mitered joints. How high does it need to be? What kind of wood? I usually make mine with mahagony. How would you want the insides done? Did you want it completely finished or were you planning on staining or oiling it yourself? How do you want the edges, sharp, rounded, or figural?? Did you want feet on the box? Let me know all this info and I'll figure up the cost. Take care!! MIchael
