Hello folks. I don't often get over here to the Trad forum as I'm really "into" the single blade, thumbstud/flipper, pocketclip type knives:) Even though, I also carry a slipjoint and the slipjoint ends up doing about 99% of what I need a knife for....go figure! I believe the large Gunstock is my favorite pattern from Case. I like the fact you have a long spear and a short pen blade. I also just like the way the butt of the knife swells and that this patern is double bolstered as that gives it a little bit more heft and thus a more solid feel to me. I have already collected a few of these; a couple of Case Brothers in different handle material(can't remember the materials), a MOP, a "Duke" version, an orange handle version, and just today a dark red w/silver script that has been retired by Case. All are the large pattern. So with 5 Gunstocks, and 1 Barlow, I guess the Gunstock IS my favorite! Any of you guys favor this pattern? I'm thinking about going with a couple of Queen's and I think that Canal does a gunstock also.

I don't like the case version, but love the queen gunstocks. The D2 Tool Steel is awesome. I also favor the clip over the spear blade.

I have a Queen gunstock too in honey amber bone. I like the pattern for the same reasons you described. The D2 is a pain to sharpen (for me), but once you get it there it will stay that way for awhile. I used a dremel to round off the corners slightly on the bolsters because they were a bit too sharp-edged.

Here's the Canal Street, pinched and threaded bolsters really set it off. This is one of my favorite EDC (hence the lint on the tang:o). I just love jacks, and this one gets a lot of oohhs and aahhs fom folks. Nice full half stops as well:thumbup:

I like the long nail pull on the Canal St. Gunstock. I wish my Queen had that since the springs are pretty stiff.

AG Russell is selling a special edition of the Canal Street Gunstock done in Ram's Horn. These were limited to 400 pieces and available for the same price as the bone handled version.

I also have a Queen in Birdseye Maple.
Rebeveling takes about 1/2 to 3/4 hour with a DMT Aligner jig.
It stays very sharp for a long while, and only needs touching up once in a while.

Well worth it.
(Cumblerland Knife Works has a very good price)
