Hey folks,

It seems like I saw a black and white photo of a Case hawkbill pruner in the "what ya totin'" thread. I cannot for the life of me find it.

Is this a new design for this year? Does anyone have one? Do you like it?

Does anyone know the pic I'm speaking of? It had black G10 handles with bolsters.

Thanks!

By what the ad says it's based on a scott freer design. Not too sure whether case ever had a pattern with a hawkbill or not. I already have 2 different catalogs sent to my house that both have them. I don't know if I can name them or not. It's in three different scale materials g10, peech seed jigged bone and I think coccobolo. The G10 would fit the bill for me for work hands down.

The hawkbill pattern was in the Case product line for many years - beginning in the 1920's or earlier.

Case made the 61011 hawkbill in bone handles and the 11011 hawkbill in smooth walnut handles with carbon steel (chrome vanadium) blade steel. These were both discontinued by Case by 1981.

Later in the 1980's Case contracted Camillus Cutlery to make the 61011 on contract with the Case name on it, with jigged delrin imitation bone handles. This knife was discontinued when Camillus went out of business recently.

So the pattern has a long history in the Case line, the new version represents a redesigned pattern that again is made in house at Case.

Sweet.

Thanks for the info. Now if I can only find that beautiful pic that a member here posted in the "what ya totin' today" thread. :)

David & all,I have a subconscience desire for this style knife. It must be ,because of all the vinyards around here.
But I picked this up on the exchange here.A good way to sammple one.
It has a drawn swedge & half stops.
Real nice packaging,Case is a classy Co.,IMO.
I took some pics. for you & all

The handle is a bit flat, but certainly not, uncomfortable & plenty big for a hard work out if that's what's in store for the knife.I think collectors will be pleased as well,as it is real unique,in it's blade profile, certainly in a class all it's own

IMO,the redesign was a little startling, first out of the box,but after handling it,I'd say its a cool blade.I think the G-10 knife should have been the barehead version, though
