Hello,

I have been looking at the Case Hawkbill pruners for a while. I like the bone handles and I enjoy using Hawkbill knives (mostly for opening boxes and packaging).

Anyone have suggestions for alternatives, or are these knives a good choice as a light-medium duty EDC blade.

Whatever brand you go- go Vintage / those old Pruners are some of the best Knives you can get I can tell you.
Paul Hilborn had picked up some extremely stunning Case Pruners off the big auction site. Check out Waynorths Thread " Prune big or go home "

Sage advice! And the vintage ones are often real bargains in very good condition. As users, they generally have blades that are more thinly ground than most modern versions which helps them to cut more easily without binding.

Rough Rider and/or Marbles.
I think the Marbles are available with genuine Rams Horn covers, if you want something fancy.
Either way, both are a good knife.

Other people have made some good suggestions , especially about the vintage ones , but if you really want to buy a Case Hawkbill , I do not believe that you will be disappointed . I bought 2 for Christmas gifts and they both were very nice and they have been well liked . I have an old Wards and I like it very much .
