Has anyone ever seen one of these?
I just got it on Ebay for my son for Xmas for 51.00 shipped.
I have seen many Case lockbacks but never one like this.

I was thinking the scales was a shark tooth but the blade has me off.

It is a Sharktooth pattern but I haven't seen the serrated blade before either. A pic of the markings on the back of the blade may provide clues.

He had on pics of the model number but said it was a 59L.
I have found nothing on a search. It is a lightening bolt s with 5 floating dots.

Is this the stamp?

This is 1980-1989

He listed it as a rare stamp, can't ever tell what is rare on Ebay and I have been out of the loop so long on Case I have no idea.

In fact, their sample from 97-99 is the 59L

Nice grab, BTW

That is a strange knife it has rounded bolsters like the Mako, Case didnt make the hammerhead in those years only the Mako and Sharkstooth this one is just a 59L if the pattern has an LT in front its a Caliber. Also strange is the floating dots, I believe they were called, are from 97-99 but this knife has 5 making it a 1995. Can you read what that is stamped into the lock release?

Lock release is stamped press.
I may have a rare one,you are right about the 5 dots.
The seller stated that it was 1985 but that can't be right.

The tang stamp is 1995.

It is unusual...the serrated skinner style blade is an oddity. Maybe it was a "short run". I would have said possibly a "lunch box" knife made up out of odd parts but that blade having a tang stamp means that it was intended to go into a single blade knife.

The pattern number "59L SS" is really an abbreviated number - in this case short for P159LSS. The same blades were used in the 2159 LSS which was/is the "Hammerhead" through for many years the "Hammerhead" etching was eliminated.
