I've been thinking about purchasing a Case Hobo to use at work. Just tired of trying to eat lunch with plastic! Anybody recommend this knife or an alternative?

Some of my siblings and I pitched in and bought one for our Dad for Christmas, and he's been using it every day at work since. He seems to like it.

I love mine. It lives in my work bag, for just this reason (though, I do drag it camping).

I travel a lot for work and many times grab something from the drive through. I was particularly upset One night after pulling out of Taco Cabana on the way back to the hotel with a plate full of yummy tacos, beans and rice only to discover I will be eating it like a dog. I swore I would get a Case Hobo when I found one I liked. Problem is I only buy Case if I can feel it first and if I like the looks so haven't bought one yet but I am still looking.

Not sure how this helps you but I have been happy with all my Case knives. I am just picky about blade play.

I've never owned one but always thought it was a really cool knife. Now I have to look for one. :)

I think just on coolness factor alone, they are a neat gadget to own :)
the fork and knife are fine in their size, the spoon being quite smallish (but better than eating with fingers) ;)
I do wonder how many Case Hobos still sell nowadays... because I rarely hear people mention them much anymore or see them being sold (except or course online). I have one in my collection, and again, the coolness factor of these well made gadgets is, well, very cool :)

I have a backpack that goes to and from work with me daily. The Hobo would live in it. Just too bulky to carry in a pocket I would think.

This is why I started a new thread. Just don't see or hear much about the pattern. Wondering if I should pick up the new version with spoon or buy an older one off the "bay" with just knife and fork. Anyone happen to have both?

I don't yet have one, but we are putting together new mess kits for camping and I have been thinking about one to throw in each mess kit. It's just a matter of balancing the cost of adding 5 of them to the mess kit budget vs. knowing that our kids will still be using them when they take their kids camping 30 years from now. They are definitely cool gadgets that I have been eyeballing lately.

I don't have one but I too think it's a cool design and would like to get one one day. For every day use or at work though, I think I would rather carry a larger single blade traditional (I already have a bunch) and one of those Light My Fire sporks. They make them in Titanium if you don't want the plastic one (the plastic one works fine though :)).

I don’t have a Case Hobo, but I do own a Ka-bar Hobo. It’s better than eating stew with your fingers. But the spoon is too small. The fork is way too small, and only spears food. The weight is too big.

I like the titanium Light My Fire spork.

Btw, imo, Case does a beautiful job on their Hobo :)

The Case Hobo, is a well made useful knife, I received mine from Kris, it's bailed me out a number of times, I keep it in my pack clean and ready to go, with two kids one a 2&1/2 year old extra utensils out about come in very handy, the knife blade is substantial enough to prepare a entire meal

It has some weight to it and is bulky, don't think you would want to pocket carry but if you carry a pack you can't go wrong
