I'm looking for info on a blade from WWI or WWII. The blade is stamped "CASE XX" on one side, and 337-6"Q on the other. Any ideas?

Don't know if this will help you or not but try to e-mail WR Case

Marvin posted this one for me, actually. Found the web site, and sent the question to them.

Thanks!

David

You have a Case manufactured Quartermaster's knife.

Depending on which reference you choose to believe, the knife is either strictly rear echelon, or seabee, or combat. In practice, I am sure that once it made it into the theater it eventually ended up everywhere. Most of the Q225 knives were manufactured by Cattagaragus(sp?). It is a well designed and very strong knife, and the Case examples are rarer (uncommon) and better finished.

Hope this helps.

As the previous poster stated, you have a Quartermaster knife. They were made by Case,Kabar,Camillus,Cattaraugus, and probably a few others. The name was actually a misnomer as they weren't issued to Quartermasters and they were excellent fighting/utility knives. There was an article about them in one of the Knives annuals.

Cool. Are the annuals available online anywhere? Or, does the publisher have an email address/web site?

Thanks,

David
