Is this a man made laminate ? Or ?
TIA,
-Vince

Thanks for the help fella's & the link knarfeng.

I kinda thought it was like dymondwood, but on this big Case hunter I recently traded into,I could not see layers,it looked so much like grain. But the jigging tore into the layers showing color variation that gave it away
I know a few knifemakers that told me dymondwood is tuff stuff!
Thanks,
-Vince

I never had one of these,I've checked out a few Bull dogs in my time, but I really was impressed with this modern day Case

So check out the big boy....

I used to be big on Queen knives ,still am somewhat. But lately ,I have checked out so many impressive Case knives, new stuff,I gotta say,I think they have really stepped up thier game

That is an extremely handsome knife.

Congrats on that one!

Very nice. With that color and jigging it looks a little like snakewood, but I'm sure it's much tougher.

I've never seen one in person, or a good picture of it, but I'm likin that one Vince.

There is no doubt that stuff is extremely durable, and has been used for a lot of different applications

Mike & all, thanks for the comments. At its size, its no watchpocket carry, but for me this will make a great glove box compact (as in folding) do all knife.
It really feels great in hand & with a quick strop job it has a real good edge, right out of the box (witch I do not have, nor need).

I have an old Case 6265, that was carbon-bladed when it was made. The old blades were worn out, so Case re-bladed it for me back in 2005, IIRC. It came back looking almost exactly like yours in that pic.

The scales are basically indestructible; they seem to be as tough & hard as any bone or stag I've had. The only material that would be better, in my opinion, would be a solid delrin-type synthetic.

Buck has been using a similar laminate on 110's for some time now. It's very tough and moisture resistant.

I have a set of kitchen knives in that material for over 40 years. The handles don't look new, but they are in fine shape.
I recently got a nontraditional Mcusta with Staminawood handles. Very nice and durable material.
