CASE KITS?

I have a Case Knife that is identical to the Buck 110. The Buck comes in an Auto model. To the best of my knowledge the Case doesn't. I understand that there are auto conversion kits for the Buck. Is there a similar kit for the Case?

I'm not aware of any for the Case.
Case has a different customer base. I doubt that anyone could sell enough to make it worth the expense of developing.

If the knife is identical, couldn't the same kit be used?

Picture.
I am unaware of a Case knife that is identical to a Buck 110. 🤔

I don't know, I've always thought "Case, if you'd only do a black G10 serrated tanto Nightmare grind auto, I'd be all over you!" 😁

I'm not aware of any auto conversion kits for the Buck 110, and I don't see any through a Google search.

Converting a manual into an auto is no simple task (believe me I know). Even if there were a kit, it's a lot more complicated than just assembling parts. It requires precision machining to do it right.

Does this mean for a fee that you could do the conversion? I would ask if you would be interested?

Sorry, I don't convert Case Mako's, or Buck 110's. I was just pointing out that it requires precision work. The Youtube video posted by Nebuchadnezzar demonstrates the difficulty and complexity of performing conversions (the project failed).

Performing conversions basically requires the knife to be re-designed. Many people think it just involves "sticking in a spring", but producing/installing a release mechanism that operates reliably, holds the blade securely closed, and holds the blade deep enough in the handle when closed to prevent the tip from rising too high (blade peek), requires a bit of engineering, and craftsmanship.

And even getting the spring just right has it's own complications. The spring has to be of the proper strength to fully open the knife, but not so strong that the knife is difficult to close and produce excessive stress on the blade catch when closed, and other parts when the knife is fired. And the spring has to be fitted inside the handle in such a way that the blade can be fully closed without the edge of the blade getting dulled by hitting the spring.

And I'm just hitting the high points.

Don't even get me started on what it takes to add a safety 😁.

Although I've built several switchblades, I specialize now in converting Cold Steel Ti-Lite 6's. Here are just a few.

pretty neat......but much cheaper, faster and easier to just buy a factory made one with a warranty on it....

Ah, but it's a sickness you know. Some people see a folding knife and they just gotta try and turn it into an auto 😁.

And there is the satisfaction of accomplishment when you do it yourself and the project is a success. 🙂

But yeah, buying a factory one would be a lot easier.
