Case knife-help me to decide

It should be 420HC at about 56-58RC. Not too great for edgeholding, but it is extremely stainless. Case makes good knives overall. :)

I wish even that were the case. Case runs their stainless 420J2 at 54-57RC. Their Chrome Vanadium blades are much better at about 56-58. Get that if you are able.

Welcome to the forum!

Don't know about CASE fixed knives but their pocket knives are these days very well-made indeed. Don't agree with criticisms of their stainless, it's a sharp, useful and durable steel.

Other fixed blades (there are many!)you can consider are Böker Arbolito, Bark River (more costly though but some of the best looking&using) Queen fixed, RAT 3, Marttiini from next door in Finland, Mora and your own Kizlyar knives in Russia.Been very impressed with the 2 I have.

Case seems to heat treat their stainless steel far too soft for my liking, overall. However I have sharpened a couple for other people with steel that seemed quite a bit harder on my stones, and have also seen differences in edge thickness amongst the same models. They are not really bad, but I think you could find something much better.
