I hope this is the place to post this, if not, please let me know.

Back in the mid to late 80's, I bought a Case single bladed folding hunting knife. If I remember correctly, it was a Case Buckhorn (not sure about the name "buckhorn". It had orange rubber like scales, clip blade in the neighborhood of 3.5 inches best I remember. The scales came off for easy cleaning. I had this knife for over 10 years until it "walked" away one day, with help I believe. The blade had some decorative etching of either a buck rack or the name "buckhorn" between squiggly brackets.

Anyhow, I've been looking for a replacement but haven't been able to find one. My question is to you Case guru's, do I have the model name correct? Normally I wouldn't care much, but me and that knife had some good times together.

I do remember those huntin knives but I don't remember the scales comin off. Did it come with a orange camo sheath? I have a the Finn fixed blade in orange handles and it's from the early nineties. Right now case makes one similar to what u r describing in tan zytel handles.

Did it look like this? This one is called a 'Blackhorn' model (pattern 2104L). Apparently, it was also available in black, as well as orange.

David, YOU DA MAN!!!

Yes that is it, thanks so much!! Blackhorn...not Buckhorn...no wonder I couldn't find a replacement...duh!

FarmKid, the scales were Blaze Orange and it did come with a orange camo sheath, which I think I threw away. The scales were friction fit and would slide off, or at least mine did. They had small slots with a shallow stud. It was great to take 'em off and clean all the blood and what not out of 'em.

The story of how I came to fall in love with the knife is kinda funny. At the time, my go to hunting knife was a Case Arapaho fixed blade knife I'd bought at a hardware store in Van Buren Ar., But on a trip down to southern Arkansas to hunt one year, I realized I had forgotten it at home. No problem cause I stopped at some podunk town and went into the Wal-Mart to buy another. I saw this blaze orange Case and I thought it looked pretty useful. It was fairly inexpensive so I bought it.

I used it numerous times on that trip and following trips. Somehow my Arapaho got shelved in favor of this little handy Orange Case. It had found its way into my hunting pack no matter where I went. It was with me in Ontario in '93 when I killed my Moose. I cleaned everything from bullfrogs to big bucks with that knife! I had it up into the early 2000's and one year I went to put it in my pack and I couldn't find it. I have a good idea of where it went because it was always popular around any camp I was in. Although I had quite a few other knives along the way, that little knife was always my first choice when heading out to hunt.

Hardly a year goes by without one of my friends asking me if I ever found "that little orange knife".
