I am new to the forums, not much of a computer person. But I've been using this case knife since I have been 12 to gut and skin deer. With that being said my grandpa gave me the knife and I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it.

Single blade folding hunter, 65 pattern with saber ground blade. Picture of the tang markings would help.....

Should be a series of 4 numbers on the back, and maybe 3 letters, like 6165SAB. It might be hard to see as the stamping may be worn or hidden by the bolster.

The Case marking seems to be from before 1945. The handle material looks to be what was called rough black or "gum fuddy" back in the day. If it is a black synthetic material that would put it as being made during WW2 most likely.

Cool knife and welcome to the forum. You might want to peruse the traditional sub forum for information about older knives.

Hard to tell with the pics but looks like a pre-64 at least. Probably older with the rough black scales.
Ask a mod to move it to BRL knife id sub forum. Lot of knowledge there.
Use the Report triangle bottom left in your post.
Nice old knife.

Looking at the first linked pic and zooming in, the tang stamp looks like the 'long-tail C' with downward-curving tail, as seen on 1932-1940 'Tested XX' blades. If so, the 'Tested XX' stamping might be obscured under the bolster, directly underneath the 'Case' mark. Handles look like jigged black composition, maybe their so-called 'Rough Black' covers.

From what I see, that's a very fine knife to have as your own.

Thanks, always have collected Case knifes.since I've been kid. My grandpa use to get me one for my bday every year growing up. So I guess collecting them over the years kinda is sentimental to me. But thanks but comment this is oldest knife im pretty sure In the collection

Awesome thank you for the info! I just wanted a little history on the knife. I have several others my grandfather gave me before he passed. I still use every single one of them. This is an awesome site I look forward to learning more thru this site.
The tang stamp design shows it was made from 1932 to 1940.
