I've got an old (later 90s) pocket worn old red stockman. I've carried it for a long time. It was my only pocket knife for many years. It is a user, and its been used, but lately I've been thinking about carrying it again. I have had a couple issues with it. Maybe 7 years ago, the shield fell out, so case sent me a new one to super glue in. It's always had blade rub issues but it closed fine, so I didn't care. One of the handle scales cracked, so I used some super glue there to. Also, one of the bolsters twisted a few degrees. That irritated me enough to twist it back. Of course, it would keep working back to its twisted position. I straightened it back an applied more super glue. After buffing it, I'm satisfied with all of the cosmetic issues, but the blade rub is getting to me. If all of the blades are open, I can close any of them, with a satisfying snap. But if the other blades are closed, every one will hang up and need to be pushed into place. The spey rubs both the liner and the sheep foot, at the same time. The sheep foot rubs the clip and spey at the same time. If the spey it's open, the other two blades do not rub anywhere, but when I close the spey, it pushes the sheep foot into the clip, which pushes the clip over about 1/64. So my question is, is it worth sending in? Can they fix such a problem, and its it reasonable, since I've used it for so long as it is? It used to close better, I have no idea why it is not able to now.

You already posted this question. Only post the question once. I am going to merge the two threads.

Any chance this knife was carried in the back pocket? I ask only because of the apparent tightening of the fit of the blades in the handle, causing rubbing that wasn't there previously. Some users have occasionally noticed issues like this, because of the liners getting squeezed inward after riding (and being sat on) in back pockets (this could also crack or break bone covers). Some knives get squeezed in the middle, and others may show a slight warp or bend of the handle over time. It's sort of an odd occurance, but I have seen people post about such issues before.

With all the use and wear over time, I don't know if Case would do a warranty fix (betting they won't). BUT, Case has been known to refurbish some older knives for a fee. Best way to know, would be to contact them and ask.

I'd contact Case and ask them what it would cost. If the knife means a lot to you (sentimental value?) then if it's worth it to you then I'd give that a try, see if they can correct it for you. If not then replace it with another one and carry on from there.

Stockmans or just about any knife with three or blades will have some degree of blade rub.i have around 30 Stockmans and they all have a little blade rub.The nature of the beast.

my old schrade has none. The blades are close to each other, but do not touch. You could pass the corner of a dollar bill between any of the blades. I've never carried a knife in my back pocket, (except my hawk bill once. I didn't like it).
I'm sorry for multiple posts. On my end, it did not look like they went through.

My for blade Ulster scout has no rub either.
Thank you knarfeng, for merging them.
