Yesterday I received as a gift a Case Hunter fixed blade. It has ths Tru-Sharp surgical steel blade. This is the first Case I have added to the collection in years. My question is how are the blades holding up with the Tru-Sharp surgical steel? Thankyou in advance.

Buck's 420 HC holds up better if that gives you an idea.

The Case Tru-Sharp stainless will take an extremely sharp edge. The only possible downside is that Case only hardens it to an RC somewhere in the mid-50s (compared to Buck's 420HC, which I think is hardened to around RC 58, give or take).

The relatively low hardness makes the Tru-Sharp blades easy to sharpen, but this also implies that they might lose their edge a little sooner.

I personally like the Tru-Sharp stainless, but keep wishing that Case will take it up a notch or two (or three) in hardness.
