Does anybody have any experience with these?
I'm not a fan of Case's standard steel, but I'm curious about these knives.

I have two case tony bose in premium steel. One is the Yukon in ATS34 and the other is the Arkansas Hunter in 154CM. Both are nice knives, the heat treat is good and the edge is well ground, fit and finish is excellent. The tony bose models are very expensive, but if you wait a year or more from release, the price comes down to about $200 - 250 for the versions with bone scales. IMHO at that price they are good value for the money.

I'm not sure what knives in particular of Case's that you're asking about, but I started a thread asking a similar question & didn't get any feedback/opinions.

I also have a Case/Bose Collaboration model (Dogleg Jack in antique bone). It has ATS-35 blade steel & is incredible, especially for the $. I had a Montell custom Trapper & the Case/Bose Collab. was definitely its equal.

However, I was curious about (& maybe the OP is too?) the 154CM models that I've seen. They're not collaborations, but certain Case models in red bone, IIRC. I also was/am curious as to how they are.

If you're willing to spend the $ though, the Case/Bose collaborations are pretty incredible.

I too, thought I saw a line of Case knives with one of the two steels in quetion. All patterns with the steel were Barnboard scales or something. I can't for the life of me find them now!

They've always been too pricey for me, but all the posts by owners that I have read have been very positive.

The ones I asked about (Not the Case/Bose Collaborations as I have one of thoe & know how it performs), are the tested red barnboard Cases. They used to have maybe 5-6 patterns, but now it appears to be down to 3: Tiny Toothpick, Mini Trapper, & a Barlow. As far as I know, they're put out by Shepherd Hills Cuttlery.

I don't know if that's what the OP is asking about, but I think that's what most seem to be referring to. While they aren't as expensive as the C/B collabs, they aren't cheap either ($71.99 for the Tiny Toothpick, $96.99 for the Mini Trapper, & $107.99 for the Barlow).

I imagine they perform quite well, though. The C/B collabs are now using 154 CM (My '03 has ATS-34), so I have to believe they're good, but I have no clue as to how good they are. Although, my Dogleg Jack's ATS-34 seems as good as my reg. folders.

To make it a little more complicated, for the Yukon, there is a red bone version with ATS34 blade, but nickel silver bolsters and IIRC nickel silver liners. I think it was marketed under the Cattagarous name, but has a Tony Bose model number.

Case makes the Slimlock series in mirror polished BG42. Various color bone, wood and M.O.P. from just under $200 to around $300.

They are small gentlemans knives with decent F&F, but the usual dull blades out of the box. Not worth the money IMO.

I have the barlow, but have pulled the bone scales off and replaced them with buffalo horn. The blades have much better lines than most other Case knives, since they're as-ground rather than polished. The blades are very hard to sharpen, but hold an edge exceptionally well.

Hmm, thank you. I may have to get the mini-Trapper then...;)
I have no problems with my Case/Bose collab in ATS-34, so if it's comparable, I'd be one happy knifenut.
