I believe I have posted this photo here somewhere before, but what I'd like to do now is see what you folks know about these knives. As you can see there are no pins showing and the knives themselves are Case manufacture. I believe I saw somewhere that Frost had purchased some Case yellow handled knives and rescaled them with this type material. But, I'd like to know more about what it is that I actually have. Any insights would certainly be much appreciated.

The canoes are CV and the trappers are SS.

Was this is a business arrangement between the companies? Or was it an unauthorized customization?

The scale material is Corelon. Case produced the knives and sold them without scales. I believe they were handled by Mike Prater from Painted Pony. They're interesting, and will probably hold up well, but folks seem to look down on those knives because they weren't totally finished by Case, and because they weren't pinned. There was a thread about these knives a while back.

Personally, I would LOVE it if Case were to start using some of the new, fancy, stable and good-looking acrylic like GEC does. But as Navihawk recently opined: "Pins. I gotta have pins."

Yep, Been seeing him at shows since he started, and I'm about 99% sure those were done by Mike. Most all of his early knives looked like those. Now days he's doing mostly more complicated stuff, similar to the Yellowhorse's.

Thanks, guys. That's a lot of help. And, I agree with the "pins, must have pins", but I am older and wiser now than when I bought them. Well older anyway. :D

I really like this forum because of all the knowledge that is here. It helps me be a better knife knut.
