Hi Colby,

Here's the pic for ya. You should edit out the link in your post though. I haven't tried any of Case's fixed blades but that one looks good.

What's he going to use it for? Does he like fixed blades? Is this his style? It looks like a nice knife to me although I don't care for that blade profile, but, you're not getting it for me, you're getting it for him.

I've never handled Case's fixed blades so don't know how they compare to anyone else...

I have the Case Lil Finn (small one) and like it, (thanks to Jackknife story) wish it was CV but Case SS works well. When I bought it the sheath was missing the internal part of the snap and to get it warrantied I would have to send it back to the place I bought it costing more than a new sheath. Last resort I called Case and wow talk about customer service, told them what was wrong and three days later a new sheath. My only question would be do you want one that big?

Never tried it, but Buck 102's are similar and they get a lot of love, plus their steel is better. Don't get me wrong, I love Case but Buck's Stainless is better than Case's Stainless (IMO). If you like the leather handle look, there's an LL Bean version of the Buck but its pricey. Good luck

Speaking as a grandfather, ANY knife purchased for me by my Grandson would be a great knife! Having said that, I believe your grandfather will find this a very serviceable and usable knife.

Regards,
Ron

^^That.
I'm not a grandfather (or a father), but I'm old enough to know I'd treasure a gift like this from a grandson.

Don't worry about the steel, either. Buck uses the same steel (420HC), but slightly harder. Case's Tru-Sharp stainless is also 420HC, and performs better than the published RC numbers might imply. And it's very easy to maintain. If your grandfather has used or collected Case knives much, he may even already be familiar with it. If so, so much the better.

Beyond that, I don't think you can go wrong with that one. If any issues arise with quality or workmanship, Case's warranty service will take care of it.

Hi guys!

Ron is right. Just like David. The 420HC gives a very fine and maintain-poor edge. It keeps it pretty long and resharpening the knife is very easy.

Kind regards
Andi

My buddy back in TN has one but I think it's a smaller blade, and he is crazy about it; he also uses a RAT 5 in D2.
