I've been looking at the Case medium congress 64052 for a while and have decided to take the plunge. Before pulling the trigger I'd like to hear feedback from owners of this particular knife. The half congress model too please.

What are your likes/dislikes? Would you have rather bought a different brand or model instead?

I can only find it currently listed in stainless. Was it ever offered in cv?

I have not purchased a Case knife new before. I do have a few including a peanut, stockman, backpocket and small stockman. They are a mixture of ss and cv. I really have no preference as I've found both steels to be fine for my needs.

Thanks,

Brian

Howdy, I have one and its great. I've seen one in CV before but they are harder to find and I had to settle for one in SS. The thing I like most about the Case's is that they have all different blades than most other brands. The blade redundancy gets me on a lot of others and turns me off of them. Great pattern and very useful for many different tasks.

Thanks for the feedback. The blade selection you mentioned is what really caught my interest too.
What cover material does yours have? I'm looking at orange peel bone and navy blue bone.

Mine is red bone even though it looks like harvest orange in the pic. I really wanted one with red bone and finally found one at a gun show last year.

I have the same one with cv steel and like it. I like the pattern.

Its in a large rotation of different knives but gets carried pretty regularly. I usually carry all my smallish to midsize knives in my left front jeans pocket with my lighter, change ect.

I like the old/vintage 64052/62052. They had crinked blades, and had 2 backsprings for 4 blades, or 1 backspring for 2 blades. The blades are thin and flexible, but not too much so. The newer ones though have a backspring for each blade, no crinking, and even thinner and more flexible blades. A couple years ago I ordered a 64052 in CV "dark red" bone. I didn't like how thin and flexible the blades were, and the "dark red" bone was a pale, sickly salmon. I returned the knife.

An older, vintage one is a much better knife, IMO, but unfortunately, they don't come cheaply.

Thanks for the pics and repsonses. Aaron the quick lesson on old vs. new models is particularly helpful.
