Case Medium Jack in CV? Or?

Just wondering if Case makes, or has ever made a Medium Jack(rounded bolsters) in CV. Basically I would love to have a peanut pattern but a little bigger.

I own and love the Texas Jack my wife got me for Christmas 6+ years ago. It is the only knife I carry, but I've always had a fondness for rounded bolsters.

I am also open to other brands if they have what I am looking for and use a good carbon steel.

Of course I could always go with a redbone peanut, but I just love the size of my Texas Jack, it fits my hands perfectly, and rides well in my pocket.

My suggestion is to pick up a GEC jack on the 66 frame. I think you would like that one fine. I can't say that Case hasn't made the medium Texas jack with rounded bolsters, but I don't remember coming across one. Of course, they may have made the pattern long enough that one could be available on the used market.

If you can find one the Case 62087, would fit what you are looking for, it's like a bigger brother to the peanut.

Next a peanut for size

Mine was a gift from a forum member, I like the size of it, thanks again Paul :-)

THanks! That pattern is a lot like what I am looking for. The blades are a little wide for my tastes, but it may be a good compromise if I can't find something else.

Fantastic! That is exactly what I am looking for!!!
Do you know if they came in anything other than delrin? There are two on Ebay right now, one NIB, and another that is well used, but both look to be delrin. I might wait on it, if I think I could find one in bone or stag.

Stag I'm not sure but bone yes, mine is a 1970 red bone, most of the time if a Case model # starts with a 6 it is bone 5 is stag, I say most of the time because there are exceptions.
Good luck on the hunt, if I run across one I will let you know

As evidenced by the photo Pete put up, they have made a CV jack in chestnut bone at one time. I believe it is about 1/4" shorter than the Texas jack you are currently carrying. The 66 is on my own list to pick up. Your Texas jack is on of my favorite patterns.

Thanks Stich! I'll keep my eye out. If you come across any leads, I would be most appreciative!

TLAR, thanks for the dimension info. I think I could live with that, I could probably live with a peanut, but anything larger would handle better I think. Yeah, I love my Texas Jack.

62087 = jigged bone or delrin
52087 = stag
22087 = smooth composition (black in this particular instance)

Mostly you see stainless in the early seventies and forward versions but there are carbon bladed ones to be had with a little searching (older ones).

P.S. On paper the difference in size between these and the Texas jack doesn't seem like much, but in hand and pocket they are noticeably smaller (especially the early and pre-seventies models).

P.P.S. If you have a chance to handle a 32087 pen that'll give you a rough idea of how the jack will feel size wise.

This is an older one ( XX era ), but yes they do make them in bone. Even redbone :D No SS here, just good ol' carbon steel.
They are a nice pattern. It almost disappears in pocket..
This one went in pocket today, and will be spending the day with me.

Case also made an equal-end 'cigar' jack 62055 pattern, in their carbon steel (not yet stamped as 'CV'). Also an older pattern, into the '70s I think, but then discontinued. There are still quite a few of them out there, and not terribly expensive either. Here's a pic found on the web (I have a '65-'69, but haven't taken pics yet of it):

I've often wanted a rounded bolster contemporary CASE myself. They'd sell really well I would say.

The GEC 66 is a good bet but a deal heavier than its CASE counterpart. One other suggesion is a bit different: consider a Böker Whittler, it's carbon, around the same size as a Small TJ, fine serp frame with rounded bolsters. 3 blades yes but very decent Clip and Pen, Coping. Two tapered springs so it's not over thick or heavy, no handful of blades feel like with certain Stockman.

Queen Cutlery's Dogleg Jack is another candidate too.

Oooooh, she's a beauty!

Thanks. I think you would like the pattern... I generally don't care for knives that are smaller than 3 1/2 inches closed. They are just to small for my big hands. Not that they won't work, I just like knives that are a little bigger. While this pattern is only a little bigger than a Peanut, it feels bigger to me, and it still disappears in pocket.

Don't forget to post up pictures when you get your new knife...
