Hello, this is my first post even though I have looked through the forum before. Ok, so I have a question I got a Case medium Stockman for Christmas from a pawn shop. On the box it has 9318WP which I am having a hard time finding any info. But, on the knife itself it say 3318. Which would be a yellow, 3 blade, medium stockman. The actual knife has a white pearl handle on it? Was this knife modified or what? Any info would be helpful, Thanks

While not a Case aficionado, IIRC, the numbering signifies "synthetic" rather than "yellow synthetic".
I suspect the handle is pearlescent synthetic, rather than actual pearl.

Here are some pictures for the interested.

I believe (from my past notes):

3rd and 4th digit indicates the pattern (18 is medium stockman)
2nd digit indicates the # of blades (3 blades)
1st digit indicates the handle material (3 is yellow synthetic material - Delrin, 9 is Coleron - sort of imitation mother of pearl)

Blade tang should have either CV or SS after 3318

Yes there is "SS" stamped after the 3318. So it looks like this has been modified by putting on different handles?

"SS" designates Stainless Steel.

Your handle is deffinitely Coleron (9), 3 blades (3) and the knife pattern is medium stockman (18).

May I see the photo of box?

The number on the box seems correct. The 9 is the #used for imitation pearl or cracked ice. The wp I believe are blade abbreviations. W=warnclif, and p=punch blade. Then the obvoious, 3 for number of blades, and 18 being medium stockman. As to why the blade is marked different, maybe they stamp all knives with any kind of synthetic material with a 3. Just a guess. Great looking knife by the way!!

Thanks for all the info fast.

I looked at my Sod Buster Junior that has a yellow handle and the abbreviation also starts with a 3. I do not have any other case knives to look at the abbreviations to see the different handle materials.

If you google "Case 9318WP" you'll see knives just like yours with Coleron handle.
I have no idea as to why your blade has "3318" marking???
I have Case Peanut with Yellow Delrin handle and it has blade and box marking of 3220 SS.

3 : Yellow Synthetic
2 : 2 blades
20 : Peanut

SS : Stainless Steel

Interesting. Maybe Case doesn't produce enough Coleron knives to warrant making a 9318 stamp and/or they figure the 3318 means synthetic and is good enough.

It's "Corelon". They are produced as a Case/Frost Cutlery collaboration. I believe Case provides the knives without the handles, and Frost attaches the Corelon handles to the frames.

jc57 thanks for the info. I did a little more research online and it looks like that is what it is. Looks like they supplied just a bare knife with a 3 as the first abbv. and then changed it to a 9. Thank you
