I am very much "into" tactical knives etc, but still I have always wanted to own one of those Case Medium Toothpicks (maybe a bone handle) They look cool, nostalgic and I like the 4" blade.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with them? Is the locking design strong? Thanks.

I'm not sure on the medium, but on the small (about a 3 inch blade)
there is no lock what so ever. I have a 2000 Case XX Small Texas Toothpick in Damascus with stag handle and it's a nice little knife. I take it on airplanes and anywhere that I think that if someone noticed/found a knife on me it might be an issue. It's a classic style that did not include a lock, maybe on the medium model they incorporated a lock back or something but I don't think so. I would really check in to it if you are expecting a strong lock.
Hope this helps

logan5: Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the info. I had no idea there was no lock at all.

I just handled a new medium a friend bought. Yes, there is no lock. Nice rosewood handles, fit and finish was as good as Case gets. He paid $43.
