I carry a Case mini trapper often. I keep looking at GEC knives and was wondering how the 42 or 72 compare in size.

I really like the trapper pattern but unfortunately I am unable to carry anything on my left side. So I try to keep the knife small enough to carry in the watch pocket.

Thanks for any information. I appreciate it.

The #72 is a lockback and very close to the same size as a #73.
So here's a #73 and a Case Mini Trapper for comparison... along with a Case Large Trapper.
You can see here that the #73 falls in-between the Mini Trapper and the Large trapper.
The GEC #42 is even bigger yet...

T TAK65 No problem. Finding an 83 could be tough. Even if they made a new run right now it would be tough. If a small high quality lockback is on your mind take a look at Moki's offerings.

A GEC 14 might suit you, especially the 2 blade version as it's compact. Also, a GEC 56 could be an idea too, again in 2 blade Jack form- choice between Spear of Clip master (same with the 14)

But as Dr-M notes, it's getting preposterous to find any GEC these days and not exactly inexpensive either.

Here's a line up of GEC 56 with a 57 and 55 end right.

And a 14 single blade left (Spear) and 2 blade Jack (Clip) right
