We've had threads on Wharncliffe knives and blades, and we've talked about good old CV steel here. It seems most people who participate in this forum are actual knife users!
So my question is, when is Case going to notice that a CV Seahorse whittler is sadly missing from their line-up??
Their Seahorse is based on a true Wharcliffe design, both the blade and handle shape were commissioned by (Lord?-Baron?) Wharncliffe, to be ergonomic and useful. Most agree it's a superior design in many ways.
Case has appealed to the part of us that worships knives for their beauty, but is behind in catering to the true users!!!
A yellow or jigged bone CV seahorse whittler would be a real EDC! (Every Day Carry to you Case Factory people who might not know what that is:eek: )
So how 'bout it Case??
To my fellow BF'ers, let's call write, and Email them into doing it!!
Comments please:D

Here's how to contact W.R.CASE. Ask for someone who recommends new products to the managers.
phone toll free; 1-800-523-6350

Or Email them consumer-relations@wrcase.com
and ask them to make a great EDC, a CV Seahorse!
Or any other knife you may wish to see!

This was discussed at length in the WR CASE sponsored forum at knifeforums. The answer from Case is, that due to the stock thickness of the master (wharncliffe) blade, they would have to do a special order of CV steel, and the minimum order would be huge - enough to make 30,000 knives. So it would be cost prohibitive.

I sent the nice people at Case an email asking if they might possibly offer any new knives in CV steel other than the current fire engine red, er, excuse me, "Dark Red Bone" ones. Never got a response. I hate that.

It's simple. Where there is a will, there's a way!
It's only cost prohibitive if you believe it so!!
My simple brain sees other uses for thicker CV, or D-2 for that matter. Fixed blade knives for one expandable option!
If Case wanted to do it, they could brainstorm an economically feasible path to succeeding in the project.
After all, when a company is dedicated to its clients, it generates fierce loyalty, and they're going to need that as the Great Chinese Invasion grows in sophistication!!

I've always gotten a response so far, some good, some pathetic. But they know that if they ignore me, they will never hear the end of it! Write 'em again is my advice!!
The squeaky wheel and all that ;)

I have some Bulldog whittlers, very nice indeed, with good steel and a range of sizes. I still think Case should do it, though! If they dominate the market, it's more work for Americans, and the profits stay in the U.S.A.
Lord knows the U.S. dollar needs a boost!

Okay, email sent. I suggested they use the thicker steel for some CV Hunters and a few fixed blades. I also recommended/requested they offer more handle materials with CV steel.

Some of those different colored bones would look great with blades in a dark patina. Stag always looks nice with a grey blade. Think what a nice white bone scale with a dark, even blued blade, would look like.

Oh well, while I'm dreaming I'll just build a really nice cabin in the middle of some prime mountain area with massive acerage around it to play on and some top level trout streams that only I and a few folks can get too running through it.
