I have a case muskrat mammoth ivory knife I was hoping someone could help me with a value on. It has the text “mammoth ivory” etched in the blade and a 051 number on the bolster.

It's a dumb rule. Who cares if someone is asking for valuation? Members can just search all over the net to get that info anyway, so what this forum is saying is they won't help unless getting paid. So sad. It's commonly called weak sauce.

It is there to prevent back door sales by those without the proper membership to sell.
You can ask for info on the knife, but many that ask for value are indicating an interest in selling.
