hey guys, I'm looking to pick up a nice fixed blade at a reasonable price, something tough that will hold an edge but also be reasonably adept at prying and chopping. I've seen a lot of praise on these forums for the KA-BAR knife, but I was wondering how the Case model would compare to it. the two knives appear nearly identical but I've learned the hard way that looks can be deceiving. any input would be appreciated, thanks :)

I don't really know about the Case, but I'v had the KA-BAR for about 20 years now and never had a problem with it.

I've used a ka-bar for just about everything over the past 15 years, you can't go wrong

the case is mil-spec, believe it or not ka-bars are not to military specs
they have been changed to look more pretty, but the preformance is about the same
