Been looking at this model for a little while, I'm a little on the fence.

Anyone have some comparison shots with other Case knives?

Any experience with this one, or thoughts on the design?

It is the two-bladed version of the Case Back Pocket. Pretty healthy sized knife. If you look at the single-bladed Back Pockets you'll see they come in two different blade types - clip and skinner. Well they put both of 'em in the Panama. Tony Bose design, as evidenced by the TB in the model number.

I don't have one for comparison shots, sorry.

Thanks, I did not realize that, very interesting

The pattern numbers give it away: Panama Trapper in bone: TB62546. Back Pocket: TB61546. Only difference in the number is the number of blades listed.

Though the Back Pocket comes in several bareheaded versions with lanyard holes and the Panama Trapper only comes with double bolsters.

Oh yeah, if you're into ebony wood, some dealers are now stocking the SHOT Show version of the Panama Trapper in ebony with a silver shield-shaped no-logo shield. Looks pretty good.

Here's one I can link: http://www.gpknives.com/casepanamatrapperebony.html

Thanks for that, I have allot to learn when it comes to Case knives. The ebony is nice, but for some reason that Calypso Blue is calling me, I generally lean towards more classic looking materials, like Stag, Ivory, or more muted collored bone, but I just love that blue.

Case 4 5/8" TB72546 SS Panama Trapper with ebony covers.

Very nice looking pics. The stock photo made the scales/bolsters look flatter than those pics do.

The ebony looks great.

You guys are such a bad influence. I don't need another Case, or another Ebony, or more CaseSS, or another Trapper...

But Shoo Buddy, that's a nice looking knife.

Great looking knife and I don't even like trappers that much.

Funny thing. I go on about how trusharp suits my needs just fine yet my first thought on seeing this was "what's the steel?" and mild disappointment when I saw it was trusharp. My hypocrisy knows no bounds.

At 4 5/8", the TB72546 SS Panama Trapper both length wise and width wise is quite a bit bigger than the 4 1/8" 3254 CV Standard Trapper.

You're just going to have to take my word for it. They are the same thickness. The cover slabs are what makes them even - one cover (delrin) slightly thicker than the other (ebony). However, the Panama Trapper is bigger (longer by 1/8" but same width) than GEC's #23 pattern.

I think the grind/swedge on the skinning blade and on the clip blade for that matter sets the knife off.

mods if you wanna delete this feel freee....i just stumbled across the thread here from about 1 month ago

It is immense. I end up not carrying it mostly because it doesn't fit in my trapper sheath. That will change once I get around to making a new one, but for now, I just look at it fondly.
