Case Peanut in Amber bone/stag and CV. Does it exist?!

Am I asking too much? Does Case even make a peanut in CV with either amber bone or stag handle scales? I cannot find one for the life of me, in fact, the only peanut I've found in CV was the yellow and red one, but I'm looking for more natural materals if at all possible.

So is there any hope? Does what I'm looking for(peanut + carbon steel + natural handle material) even exist?

Any suggestions? Any places were I could buy one?

Ya, I just found that one too, but I guess I'm looking for natural and natural looking handles.

I just don't understand why they don't offer all peanuts in either SS or CV, they are already making the same exact blades for the yellow and red ones, how hard would it be to slap the CV blades, made for the yellow or red ones, on a stag or amber bone one?

Would it be possible to request a CV and stag peanut from the factory?

If not, would it be very hard to take these apart and switch the blades? Like buy a yellow CV and a stag SS and swap the blades then sell the new yellow SS one.

Here's a Peanut in damascus and amber bone. If look around the web you might still find one available. Takes a nice edge and seems to keep it fairly well. Very well done little knife.

Oh yes, the damascus is very nice, I've heard of it, but haven't really seen any. Just as well though as it's probably a bit out of my price range.

Oh, well I guess I'm asking too much. I still wonder how hard it would be to take two apart and switch out the blades.

Sadly, I think you are out of luck Stingray. I know I've been looking for the same thing! There are a few carbon steel peanuts out there, but not many. The Case Red Bone and Yellow Delrin, obviously.

There is a peanut-ish small Schrade Old Timer Jack Knife, I think the 72OT and carbon steel. Not bone, hard to find...

There MAY be a Northwoods reverse stag peanut in D2...maybe. But it would be very hard to find.

I suggest the Case Red Bone CV Peanut. I ordered one Sunday!

This is one of my pet peeves with Case. They change which models they do in CV every year as some little game to get people to buy different handles. They did offer the Amber Bone CV Peanut in '06. Who knows what'll be available in '07? And SMKW or someone like that may have a special run done. Part of the joy of collecting, I guess.

You might search some of the smaller on-line stores to see if anyone has old stock for sale. I sometimes find older models of knives I want that way.

The current Old Timer reproductions are all stainless, as were many of the originals for the last production years. In order to get a carbon steel Old Timer, you'll have to find one made before Schrade made the transition from carbon to stainless.

Over the years Schrade did make some anniversary sets and limited edition Old Timer knives in natural bone handles. In fact the late Old Timer Classic series included a Peanut pattern (stainless steel though).

I think the 72OT...
The Peanut Old Timer Classic is the OTC72, and the 72OT was the Dog Leg Jack which looks very similar to the Case peanut pattern. The 12OT Pal would be considered a single blade "Peanut" (I think).

Good luck in your hunting,
-Bob
