Case Peanut Trials & Tribulations from Day One

Good afternoon everyone.

Like many other regulars here I have carried a variety of knives over the years. If we didn't have that addiction we wouldn't be here now would we? Anyways I caught myself over the years carrying a 1970 peanut quite frequently. I decided I wanted to try something different. I've seen other threads similar to this done before but this one will be a little bit different.

Today I picked up a brand new Case Peanut CV in Yellow Delrin. For the last 23 years I have worked full time in Law Enforcement and part time as a Paramedic. Right around 99% of my tasks at both careers can be accomplished with a smaller knife like the peanut I will call Yella Fella. For the times I may need a bigger knife I have my Hinderer with me on duty also.

What I will do is document Yella Fella's progress as I will be using him each day for the majority of tasks. It will be used at both jobs and at home for every other task I run into. He will not be "babied" or "coddled" in any way. He will be oiled and wiped down when required. There will be no deliberate abuse trying to break him such as batoning large wood, etc. He will be heavily used however.

I have posted a picture of Yella Fella on his birthday today January 27, 2017 and I will regular post in this thread updated photos and in use shots.

I really want to see what this little guy can handle. Like I said, there will be absolutely no intentional abuse but good, honest work & home use.

Here he is before any use. Indoor shot as it is snowing like crazy outside now and we are expected to get 3-3 1/2 feet of snow.

Happy Birthday Yella Fella and here we go!

That's a really good looking knife, Ron. Looking forward to your updates.

3-3 1/2 feet of snow?!! Holy cow!!

I like that little fella! Looking forward to future updates. I have a beautiful stag bone version, gifted to me by forum member Will Power. It's so nice I'm afraid to use it. I guess I'm saving it for sedate usage in my retirement. Now I can live vicariously through you and your adventures with the little yella fella. Perhaps you'll inspire us. I wish you both well. ☺

Yeah I think he's going to look nice once a natural patina develops with the yellow.
👍

Nice looking yella fella you got there.
3 1/2 feet of snow? You must live in the Great Lakes "Lake Effect" region. Up State New York, by chance?

True Woodrow. He's getting used for some food prep tonight matter of fact.

He helped cut up some stuff for my chili recipe. No issues at all.

He even had his name placed on him tonight. :)

Close. Western NY about an hour south of Buffalo in the "Snow Belt".

When Buffalo gets six inches of snow we'll get 1-2 feet.

What a great idea Ron! I'm liking this thread already in fact. I happen to LOVE yellow delrin Peanuts and mine has been one of my most frequently carried knives for close to 3 years now. It's a wonderful and very capable companion.

I look forward to following this evolving story. :D

Nice knife. I got a brown delrin peanut for Christmas and it has been in my pocket since. It has been a great companion for me. Looking forward to watching yella fella grow up.
