Picked this up yesterday at a local gun show. After cleaning it up a little, I think it's a pretty nice little blade. Thinking of adding it to my edc rotation (I usually always have a slip joint traditional in my left front pocket and carry a few other blades for other tasks).

Other than the model and year, can anyone tell me more about it? Should I edc it? Safe queen? Rare?

Thanks in advance,

Might that be a 06244 pattern (3-1/4" closed; California Clip & Pen blade)? The pattern # should be stamped on one of the blades.

Looks like brown jigged Delrin covers on it. All in all, a very nice find. In that vintage, not real rare*, assuming it is an 06244. I'd drop that one in my pocket and not worry a bit.

*I'm referring to p. 205 in The Official Price Guide to Collector Knives, Fourteenth Edition, by C. Houston Price (2004)

I agree with everyone, nice little knife, I'd carry it for sure, the 70's were better years for Case then the later ones.

On the main blade is stamped ?233. I can't make out the first number. It almost looks like there is only 3 numbers but I'm certain the first part of the stamping was number and there are four numbers total, I juts can't make out the first one. Hope that helps.
Seeing Obssessed with Edges post, makes me really want to know now what year and handle material is on this one. It is definitely a 9 dot.

After checking around I think it is a 6233. Is it bone?

Pretty sure it's Delrin. The jigged brown Delrin from Case all looked very similar, and yours seems to show the same character (the jigged Delrin models were also designated with a '6' as the first digit in the pattern number, BTW, as were all jigged versions, including some in Case's 'Staminawood' laminate). Bone will always show 'pores' and grain, if inspected close under bright light. The brown Delrin lacks the pores & grain, and has sort of a 'chocolate milk' opaqueness about it.

The 6233 should be 2-5/8" length, if that matches yours. The guide I referred previously lists some of the 1970s-vintage versions with the Delrin covers, and others in bone.

(from the same guide referenced earlier, p. 202)

9 dots is 1971, as you'd originally stated.

The handles are Delrin. The shield has the Case name in an oval. The bone knives just had the Case name with no oval.

Thanks everyone. It's getting pocket polished right now.
