Case did a run of Sodbuster Jr's in Persimmon Orange Bone as a Shot Show dealer exclusive. I caught wind of it a few months back and preorder a few from the only dealer at the time that had info on the knife. They arrived a while ago but I haven't had time to take a few picks and post them up. So here is my impression and a few pics.

I have some mixed feeling on this version of Case's classic take on the sodbuster pattern. The good points, I really love the color of the jigged bone, orange is one of my favorites and this looks nice. It comes very thin, as you can see in my pic it is much thinner than the classic Case Sodbuster Jr and not much thicker than the ridiculously thin linerless Case carbon fiber sodbuster jr. This will disappear in your pocket and never remind you it's there until you need it, great edc knife. Walk and talk is nice as well as the fit and finish. Now the bad points, let's get it out of the way, the shield is plain ugly imo. It's a Shotgun shell with double XX's. I get it's a shot show exclusive so they wanted to tie the theme into the knife but quite honestly I think it ruins the beauty of Orange bone. I can stomach the Case shield on the Carbon Fiber and Amber jigged bone versions, even though I feel they should do without them, but this one just comes across as tacky. Also, just like the Amber Jigged Bone and the Carbon fiber Sodbuster Jr, it only comes in SS. Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with their SS but I like the added option of CV. I've never understood why they don't offer the CV in the other sodbuster jr versions other than yellow, mind boggling actually. The price is in the low to mid $40's, which for a bone handled version I feel is acceptable but still on the high side considering you can get a Micarta handled version from Queen in D2 or for $15 or so more you can get a GEC bullnose. So, as a sodbuster collector, I'm happy I have a new addition to the crew and I like seeing Case expand their options(where's the Carhart version BTW!??) though I feel they left a little to be desired on this model, mainly due to the shield. Hope you enjoy the write up and the limited pics.

That's a beauty despite the shield, love the orange too, nice score Trev.

You are right the shield is ugly but regardless that is a beautiful knife and I'm sure it will fit all of your needs.

I received mine a couple weeks ago and like it a lot...not crazy about the shield either, but I have no trouble looking past it.
I'm just happy to see Case retool for the smaller pivot pin and look forward to other handle options on the Soddie.

Well, glad you like your new knife. It's definitely something that requires a certain aesthetic sense which I don't possess to be able to appreciate it. :p

That might the nicest way of saying "I hate it" that I've ever seen:D

I'm not sure, but I think the shotgun shell is part of the Persimmon Orange line. The orange is supposed to signify things of fall, such as orange leaves and hunting. I may be wrong though.

I actually like that shield. Just something different and I shoot a lot as well.
