Does anyone have one of these? If so, how do you like it? I'm thinking about buying one, but the pictures on sites where I've see them for sale seem to differ from site to site, so it's hard to tell what it's really going to look like in person. I'd love to see pics of one "in the wild" if anyone has them.

Also, I'm assuming the "pinched bolster" is just for looks? Can't imagine there's any function purpose to it, but enlighten me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

As far as I know, you are correct. The pinched bolsters are just for looks.

Google image search brings up a lot of stock photos but there are also some actual photos if you scroll down.

To my knowledge pinched bolsters are just one of many cosmetic embellishments. I like it on some patterns but not others. GEC uses pinched bolsters on a lot of their Northfield brand knives.

I've never understood the appeal of pinched bolsters. I have some knives with them and I don't mind them, but they're not a plus for me.

Depends on how it's done. But in general I agree with you. If you didn't know it was an intentional design feature you might think something got crushed accidentally during manufacture. I do have a couple of GEC Northfields that do more of a dimpled rather than pinched effect that turned out rather nicely.
