Case QC falling off?

Just picked up a Case XX with G-10 in TruSharp trapper ( Couldn't find one in CV). Cost about $50. Recently went to a old town in Napa, CA and picked up some old Queens and Case from the 80's, and those were kickass in quality. The new G-10 one is terrible. The infamous round-tipped blade came dull. The blade was polished so badly I thought it was a patina. Fit and finish was okay. Very smooth transition between the G-10 and the crown. Back spring finish was terrible, bleeds so much light a blind man could see it. Only pros was the really well done black G-10 and perfect blade centering. What is the deal with Case these days? Has new Cases become a hit-or-miss ordeal or anybody here have the same QC problems?

Their dye jobs are incredibly inconsistent also. I wouldn't buy another Case knife sight unseen.

The Case G-10 knives come with "as ground" blades, meaning they are not polished but are left as they were after they were ground out of the blanks. This is not a flaw, this is a design feature of the particular knife you bought.

I don't happen to like that finish myself, which I why I don't buy their knives that have it. However, it's not a QC error.

I don't like it so much either John but you're right - it isn't a QC error.
