Got these in recently after a long wait (ordered Sept '06!). These are nice looking knives and I'm glad I picked them both up. But...

The stockman arrived with quite a bit of red rust, especially on the clip point blade. In addition the tip of the clip point isn't remotely sharp...the secondary bevel kind of "runs out" at the tip. In addition there is no spacer between the clip and the sheep's foot so there's a bit of rust in there between the blade tangs too. I was able to clean the rust up (mostly) with some Nevr-Dull and a lot of elbow grease. Trouble is the etching on the damascus is now "off" where the corrosion was the worst.

The Tiny Trapper arrived in slightly better condition but both blades had a wire edge, and that was nicked slightly on the clip point. Took a little time with some crock sticks to clean up. Plus, there isn't any snap to the spey blade when closing it. Maybe there's some gunk or grease or something stuck in there; I don't know.

Anyway, they're pretty knives but be sure you have the chance to handle one before you buy it. I really like the peachseed jigged amber bone, it has a nice "tone" to it and the random jigging makes it look more "correct" to my eyes.

I'm really quite surprised about the rust, one would think that Case would've used a little oil or something before packing the knives up.

Here are some pics, with one for size comparison as well. The tiny trapper one came out so nicely I've got it set up as my desktop wallpaper at work. :)

Both are beautiful , I too would have been pretty disappointed with the rust after waiting that long for them to arrive.

Cool knives. I have been looking at them (online, no local stores carry them). Could you tell me how long the largest blade on each is? I would be disappointed to find rust on them straight from the store. Steven

Rust on a new knife? That'd be a blow on the head! What kind of conditions have they been kept in I wonder:eek:

Nice scales there though:thumbup:

The amber bone is really beautiful. The damascus is gorgeous as well. All of my "knife buddies" (i.e., non-sheeple) at the office today commented positively on the materials.

FWIW I got these from Shepherd Hills.

The tiny trapper rode with me today (in my right pocket...a Bailey Bradshaw utility folder in the left!) and I used it for a number of small cutting chores. I'm beginning to become a fan of small knives.

Measurements on the medium stockman, taken in a straight line from the termination of the edge at the choil to the very tip:
Clip point: 65mm
Sheepsfoot: 46mm
Spey: 42mm

Tiny trapper measurements:
Clip: 43mm
Spey: 43mm

Sorry for the units, I've only got a metric scale on me at the moment.

I've got one of the Tiny Trappers (ordered January, received May). On mine, it was the clip blade that was sticking. No rust. Wire edge on both blades, but I've been uniformly disappointed with the edges on production slip joints, so I was prepared to resharpen from the get go. Fit and finish are pretty good and I love the raindrop damascus -- looks great and takes a wicked edge. Overall, I'm pretty happy with mine.

Those are my favorite Case knives now, I may have to get a full size Trapper.

I've got the peanut and the stockman so far. Both arrived in great condition, besides needing sharpening I mean. I really like the amber bone and the raindrop Damascus is awesome. One thing I noticed is the peanut has half stops and the stockman doesn't.

The peanut is a great little pocket knife, I really enjoy carrying it.
